A dictionary is a list of words and their phoneme code equivalent. The Speech Manager uses such a list to look for a word it needs to convert into phoneme code. If it can not be found in the dictionary the conversion is based on the characters in the word. A dictionary is very useful for words which are otherwise pronounced incorrect, like names of places and people.
Speech Pack includes one dictionary as a ”dict“ resource, which is installed with every speech channel you open using the SP Open Voice function.
There are a few words included, related to the Macintosh, 4th Dimension and some geographic names, but if you have any suggestions for words you want included, let me know. The phoneme code was (based on code) generated by the MacinTalk Pro speech synthesizer using the ”Male Voice“ voice.
If you have suggestions about words to add to the dictionary, contact me. If possible give me the correct phoneme code also (when English is your native tongue your pronounciation is probably better than mine!).
